About

Ananya Goparaju is a young and upcoming Hindustani classical piano player. The piano, is a non-traditional instrument in the world of Hindustani music. Ananya has drawn inspiration from similar instruments like the santoor and harmonium to create a new technique for the piano.  She has had the privilege of learning under her Guruji Brandon McIntosh, a sarod disciple of Padma Bhushan, Pandit Buddhadev Dasgupta of the Senia Shahjahanpur gharana.

Ananya is very passionate about giving back to others, specifically directing her attention towards providing underprivileged children with a proper education. She recorded her first album, Indian Classical Ragas on the Piano, at age 11, and the profits were donated to ASHA for Education, dedicated to helping underprivileged children in India achieve their full potential.

One of her many passions, besides playing the piano, is teaching young kids. Ananya is currently working as an assistant teacher at Seattle Raga Institute (SRI) giving young kids piano lessons. She has also completed her bharatanatyam arangetram, and continues to teach kids classical dance.
